Understanding Target Date / Adjusted Days to Target

Target Date / Adjusted Days to Target Scenarios

Client question may include:

  • "Target Date keeps changing"

  • "Adjusted Days To Target is Negative"

  • "Adjusted Days to target stays negative after adding new DARTS"

  • "Adjusted Days To Target is the same as yesterday or is not updating"

The Target Date represents the date a patient should be scheduled for treatment. When there is no DARTs entered, this date is based on the number of days after the Decision To Treat as determined by the Wait 2 score (sometimes referred to as the Urgency score). When a DART (Days Affecting Readiness to Treat) is entered on the case, the target date is pushed into the future by the number of days of that DART.

DARTs are date-inclusive, meaning that if a DART is scheduled from January 11th to January 12th, then that represents a 2-day period that the patient is unavailable (from the beginning of January 11th to the end of January 12th). In such a case, the Target Date is pushed 2 days further into the future.

Adjusted Days on List and Adjusted Days to Target are two values shown on the case details in the Provider Module. Adjusted Days on List is a number that counts up for each day the case is on the list, while the patient is available. Adjusted Days to Target is a number that counts down for each day the case is on the list after Decision To Treat Date, while the patient is available for treatment. Both numbers are paused during a scheduled DART period.

When treatment has not yet occurred and it is later than intended by the wait 2 score, the Adjusted Days To Target reflects as a negative number. If a DART is entered for a time period that is scheduled past the intended target date, the Adjusted Days to Target will remain negative but will not count down further into negatives during the DART.

Placing further DARTS during a time when the case is already late for treatment does not make the case less late, and so Adjusted Days to Target will never go up unless DARTS are scheduled in the past.
